When my co-worker came over to my desk, and told me to watch this video, I couldn’t understand what had him so tickled. OK, the uncomfortable close-up on a penis gyrating against a pair of Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon shorts was…. interesting… but I didn’t get the big deal of this clearly spoofy youtube video. Nowadays it is common to see such displays on “the interweb.” Well, if Die Antwoord is a joke, they’ve taken the joke too far. Albums, sold-out concerts, a facebook fan page? They’ve made a legit career out of something that clearly started as a jab at… hmmm… well, I’m not sure what. But I will say, it kind of reminds me of The Prestige, 2005 (*** spoilers for The Prestige). Where Christian Bale lives his magic act. And the audience, nor his own wife, knows that he and his twin brother have been living the same life throughout the whole movie. This is clearly an act. These people are actors. They have to be. Right…?
